CTNET at Five

It’s hard to believe I started blogging five years ago.

I started blogging in October 2020, at the height of the Pandemic, after reading numerous articles claiming that blogging was an excellent way to gain a passive income. While that may be the case for some bloggers, I haven’t made any money yet from this journey.

However, I have grown in other ways. Firstly, I discovered a joy in writing and the thinking process that drives it. Especially now that I’m aware the process of writing can improve one’s own thoughts and ideas.

I’ve gained an interest in journaling and Personal Knowledge Management, which has further improved my thinking.

Every post I write is with the objective of helping someone, and at times, that includes myself. So, it is rewarding when I become aware that someone has found something I’ve written useful.

My personal highlight so far was discovering that a fellow writer had quoted me in one of their articles. This feels more rewarding than one of my posts ‘exploding’ for a week earlier this year.

I’ve noticed this year that traffic is on a slow decline. At least in part, I think this is due to the decline of traditional search engine results and the growth of AI. I also think that I write fewer ‘how-to’ posts due to the growth I foresee in AI.

As I was generating no real income from ads, I decided to remove them from the website and try the associate route again. Firstly, by joining the Amazon Associates programme.

I also recently read an article suggesting that a blogger should be able to create a mini-book from their existing content, and I’m starting to explore that idea.

Last year, I realised that my personal aim is to learn as much about the world as I can. I think CTNET can help me with this aim, and as long as that remains the case and I’m able to write, CTNET will continue to exist.

I would like to thank everyone who has read one of my articles, and I hope you will continue to enjoy them in the future.
